Major players operating in the Garden State include DraftKings, 888 Casino New Jersey, and BetStars NJ all competing to deliver the best online betting product and sign-up bonuses available. Licensing of the gambling industry has made it much safer for players and means that operators have a duty to protect players from irresponsible gambling to ensure that betting is enjoyed as a form of entertainment.

Online sports betting is legal in New Jersey after the U.S. Supreme Court repealed Professional And Amateur Sports Protection Act 1992 (PASPA) in May 2018. The decision handed power to US states to decide how they wanted to treat online wagering on sports.

New Jersey was the first state to act and in just a few weeks opened up the possibility for Atlantic City casinos and local racetracks to offer legal sports betting to the public. DraftKings was the first online sportsbook to open and today a dozen other operators have launched an online product and many more are set to come. The main New Jersey casino operators include playMGM, Caesars, FanDuel and 888 NJ.

Pennsylvania Legal Online Gambling

The Pennsylvania online gambling market bill was passed and will open another East Coast state for online betting and gambling. The bill was passed by the PA Senate and House in October 2017, making Pennsylvania the fourth US state to legalize online gambling. A Governor called Tom Wolf set the new law that allows for 13 licenses in each of the three categories of table games, slots and online poker.

Pennsylvania Online Casinos

Pennsylvania’s online gambling framework, even though legalized, has still a long way to go. However, with the number of live casinos already open – we can expect the launch of several casinos off the back of sports betting and online poker and bingo sites in Pennsylvania. Penn residents can already play in free to play games at East Coast gambling neighbour sites operated from New Jersey. The East Coast betting team believes that the regular games available at live casinos will be available in the near future online. As the situation in Pennsylvania is changing every day, make sure you keep up-to-date with the recent announcements and visit our page dedicated to Pennsylvania online gambling.

Pennsylvania Sports Betting

While New Jersey sports betting has already launched in retail outlets and via mobile operations, Pennsylvania takes a slightly different approach and has launched physical sportsbooks first, followed by mobile online operators. Sports betting kicked off with land-based operations in 2018 and online betting will be introduced to players in Pennsylvania wanting to gamble online in 2019.

The sports betting apps that might be available to use in Pennsylvania include PlaySugarHouse Sportsbook – which is likely to go live first after being successful and popular in New Jersey. Parx Casino is preparing the launch of a betting app, planning to offer customized experience to Pennsylvania-based residents. Fan Duel and DraftKings seem to be the major players looking at launching sports betting in the state.
